Dr. Jacqueline Streich, Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Jacqueline Streich, ND believes that healing comes from within, and that the body has an innate capacity to heal itself. She works to encourage and empower each individual with the tools and information to achieve their health goals. Dr. Streich received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Guelph, before going on to complete her degree in Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto. While at CCNM, she travelled to India to further enhance her studies in homeopathy, participated in an externship at Anishnawbe Health Toronto and completed a specialty internship in pediatrics at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic.  Dr. Streich is licensed and registered as a Naturopathic Doctor in Ontario by the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy. She is also a member of the Canadian and Ontario Associations of Naturopathic Doctors, and is an executive member of the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors. Jacqueline is also a trained labour doula.

Enjoying variety and challenge, Jacqueline treats all ages and health concerns including digestion, fatigue, allergies, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, hormonal imbalances and mental/emotional concerns. She has a special interest in women's health, fertility, pediatrics and perinatal health, as she believes in building a strong foundation of health for life. Jacqueline also attends births as a labour doula and is experienced in utilizing naturopathic remedies and techniques to assist women both in preparation for and during labour. Jacqueline's view of health and wellness is strongly rooted in a holistic approach to patient care which takes into consideration mind, body and spirit. She strongly believes that every person has a unique story that needs to be understood in order to address the root cause of his or her health concerns. Her healthcare practice follows an integrative methodology that combines the latest in medical science with clinical nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathy, botanical medicine and counselling for long term, effective results.

Dr. Streich is pleased to be joining the team of practitioners at Maternity Wellness and is currently accepting new patients. Appointments with Dr. Streich are available on Mondays and Wednesdays and can be made through the reception at Maternity Wellness or by contacting Dr. Streich directly at jacqueline@maternitywellness.com

  Jessica Rea (Our Acupuncturist) 

Jessica is an acupuncturist and a mother who is trained in Chinese Medicine which includes Tui Na massage and Herbal Medicine.  Her education and practice of acupuncture is based on 5000 years of tradition and knowledge.  She has over 1600 hours of classroom studying in traditional Chinese Medicine and 600 hours of clinical training.

Jessica focuses on patient education, as people will heal better when they understand what is going on in their own body.  She teaches awareness of how your body is affected by factors such as weather, emotions and diet, believing  each person needs to be in control of their own health.  She brings the body into balance with various methods of treatment such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping and tuina massage. 

She has great success with treatment of various pregnancy conditions and preparation for a more efficient labour with acupuncture.  She volunteers her time to prenatal classes doing demonstrations on Acupressure for Pain Relief during Labour.  As well as treating problems relating to women and pregnancy, Jessica treats a wide range of ailments from chronic illness to acute symptoms. Most people are surprised at the wide rang of illnesses and symptoms that Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine effectively treats. 
     
 

Rebecca Boshi (Massage & Hydrotherapy) 

Rebecca attended the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy and graduated with honours in 2008. There, her passion for prenatal massage and postpartum massage was ignited. She later became certified in pre-natal massage and had the privilege of treating patients in a hospital setting out of Women’s College Hospital in Toronto.

Rebecca is trained in infant massage instruction and infant massage and encourages this communication of love and care through healthy touch.

She believes in tailoring a massage towards the individual needs of each client by using multiple techniques to get the best results. Her treatment encompasses a wide spectrum of approaches from soft tissue manipulation, and deep tissue techniques to trigger point therapy and stretching. Communication with each client to determine the best course of care is her first priority. Rebecca also believes in the body’s ability to heal itself and that massage therapy is one of the many paths to restoring health and wholeness to the body. 

     
  Chris Mandalentsis (Registered Massage Therapist, Doula)

Chris is a recent graduate of Algonquin College.  At Algonquin she found a passion for maternity massage when she got hands on experience in the labour and delivery wing as well as the post partum wing.  She was able to help women cope with labour through different massage techniques and constant support, as well offering post partum and infant massage.  Chris is passionate about the need to have massage and other supports available to women before, during and after labour.

Massage can help manage or relieve the aches and pains associated with pregnancy.  As your body changes your muscles change too, Chris works on an individual basis to meet your needs as they change. She is also very involved helping women become aware of their bodies, showing ways that they can help themselves control current aches and pains and prevent new while at home.  

Chris enjoys working with a variety of clients and is well versed in deep tissue, TMJ (temporal mandibular joint- Jaw Pain), active/passive relaxation and labour support massage.  Currently Chris is completing her Doula certification with DONA in order to expand her knowledge and grow to be a better support person during labour.

Chris believes in the strength of women and loves being able to help women prepare to deal with pregnancy and give them the tools for childbirth.
